A Sandusky County Grand Jury recently indicted Fremont resident, Kelly Provonsha, on charges of tampering with records and grand theft.  Provonsha is charged with allegedly receiving $21,939 in benefits which she was not entitled to receive from the Ohio Works First and Food Assistance programs administered by the Sandusky County Department of Job and Family Services. The maximum penalty for tampering with records, a Third Degree Felony, is up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine and the maximum penalty for grand theft, a Fourth Degree Felony, is up to eighteen months in prison and a $5,000 fine.  The pretrial hearing is scheduled for September 25.

"This indictment was the result of many hours of work and investigation on the part of our Benefit Recovery staff.  We are serious about pursuing repayment from individuals whom we believe have fraudulently obtained benefits.  We want to ensure that tax payer money is spent on recipients who are entitled to the benefits which they receive," said Cindy Bilby, director of the Sandusky County Department of Job and Family Services.
